Hi mylotters, do you like to paint in your free time? what sort of paint do you use? watercolor or oil paint, chalk or crayon, sketch pen or pencil and charcoal? i like paint in my free time and i mainly use oil paint, as it is very easy to use and once you get the hang of it, you can even paint without brushes by using a pallette knife. i'm not famous for my paintings nor my paintings are in great demand, but i just like to paint and i have quite a collection of my own paintings. I mostly paint landscapes, seascapes and sceneries (i've not mastered the technique of portrait yet). with paintings one can express their inner most feelings which words are cannot express. be it abstract or scenery or anything, just give it a try, and try to express that feeling which you have in your mind into an image, who knows maybe there's a hidden talent inside of you.

When the mood demands it, I do paint. I use acrylics (heavy body and not) and brushes. I've done landscapes, florals, animal portraits (for Liz's clients), usually on wood (I don't much like canvas) or plaster base..I use plaster/spackling to hide the grain on plywood to give me a smooth surface to work on (scrap plywood is easy to find)and have used that method to decorate little side/plant tables I've made and faux finished, some with flat finish and some with dimensional finish (using clear sealers and such for depth).
I've also used acrylics in waterbased sealer to create stains and haven't mastered it yet, but have tried using these colored sealers to paint watercolor type dimensionals.
I have even done glass dimensionals (when the boredom or 'block' is on and the glass, like window glass, is available). It produces an interesting effect as more layers are produced than working one a single flat surface..ENJOY the adventure!

Hi greenfeathers, thank you for your reponse. I've never painted on plywood, but it must be fun in sort of a way, i hope to try it out someday. Does it involve much labor? I mean to smoothen the plywood and cutting it to the desired shape etc. Dimensionals are very beautiful, if executed in the perfect way. I also sometimes do glass paintings, like giving it a stained glass look. Wishing you the best in your paintings.

I uses pencil most of the time during sketching before finally trace it with a ballpen, fill the design objects with colorful pen or watercolor. Most of the times i like to paint the natures or any object with a paint brush strokes until i guess the images then form it according to my likeness. Then, finalize it with my own personal signatures...

drawing with pencils are nice, you can be able draw details much better than watercolor etc. have you tried drawings with charcoal? if you know the shading technique, the results are simply stunning.
