I do it sometimes, my wife and children do it too. When I arrived late at work and have missed something important, I do make excuses just to saved my butt. My children makes excuses too when they arrived late from school. Excuses varies like traffics, accidents, unexpected visitors, finishing an urgent reports, heavy rains, my alarm clock did not ring or battery is low. These are some common alibis when late. Many of us are good at it but sometimes when it becomes too often, it becomes a habit. I know if someone's making a habit out of it. Do you make excuses (or alibis) too?

very rarely. i always make it a point to be early or to be on time for work or for any appointment. i hate it when i am being made to wait for an appointment. at times when i see i cannot make it on time, i inform the office or the person i am going to meet that i would be late. i don't make alibis, i tell him truthfully what delays me and apologize. excuses and alibis aren't in place if u are truthful and honest.

You can count me as the 'odd man out' in this Department as I am always on time which irritates others as they would be always late. Whenever I have parties I 'let the show begin' even if I have just about 10 percent present!!

Good for you. Keep it that way, and hopefully you could influence your colleagues to be always on time.

Yes I do however my most common reason which is heavy traffic does not work anymore =) Or sometimes I would say that I am not feeling well. This is actually my biggest area for improvement. I'm trying next month not to be late anymore and get a perfect attendance record. =)

"not feeling well", have tried this alibi too. But its the reason most widely used by my co-workers and have to stop it for sometime now.
