I think, "Amen" means, I agree to that, Approved, or I second the motion. Or something like "I believed" or conforming with respect.

The first responder have given a very good explanation of the translation of the word Amen. We are using it in our Church often. It is a word that God's people uses even during the Old Testament times. As explained above by the first responder, it means to agree or approve. Therefore, when we hear the word amen, it means the person who said that agrees or approves.

Amen is a word of Hebrew origin meaning "so be it." It was imported into greek and from greek it was passed on into Latin and then into other western languages.

The same word is used in Islam as it is used in Judaism and christianity.

Sunday-school tells us it means 'I believe,' but I think it's more-closely related to "Nam" the Korean Sanskrit for 'within my field of vision, I would hold this up highest for all to see.'

(of course, I'm taking that meaning from within the context of Nichiren Buddhism's constant mantra "Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo." Even Nichiren Buddhist scholars simplify the meaning of 'Nam' to "praise to the 'object of devotion' (the 'Gohonzon')," but my meaning of it is formed with constant meditation more than logical reason.)
