What herbs are the easiest to control?   email this discussion to a friend?

I am not very good at keeping any sorts of plants/flowers alive but yet I would like to be able to start a indoor herb garden. There is a small project that I am looking to finish by next summer and am in need some I guess they would be considered aromatherapy herbal plants. I have never worked with herbs before and although I have read up on some stuff before I was looking for some real life opinions on them.
I am wanting herbs that are easy to care for, doesn't need much time put into them and can grow in the light as well as possibly in the dark and some what damp areas. I have a sun porch that I can put them in in the summer but a lot of time in the winter it gets a bit colder out in there and I am not sure if the plants will be able to survive out there so I would more than likely be putting them in my basement which is decent but does get that damper appeal...so I need a herb that may be able to survive in both areas.

dear fellow myLotter. I realize that this is an interesting topic indeed. But I have never tried to grow my herbs inside as I have plenty in the garden all summer and buy them in the winter. I think it is marvelous that you want to start a garden indoors.. should be fun too.

But, it was the title of your discussion that lured me in. I have just finished in the gardens, cleaning up and digging out before winter sets in and have dug out roots galore of wild asters that have NOT at ALL been 'the easiest to control',, those darn travelling roots!!
I was gonna tell you that I have no trouble with my herbs, not having had to spank any of them!
But thanx for the smile you put on my face. Good luck with your question!!

Sorry...I have no experience what so ever with herbs so I have no idea what or how they grow. I have bad luck when trying to grow anything in my house so I am mainly looking for something that can stay alive without much care. The things that I want to do is doing the winter time so it can't be anything done in a garden happy Thanks for your response!!

Here, my friend, is a link that just might help a little.

http://www.doityourself.c...

I really think your dream project is worth a try and the details in this link may just give you the courage to try it.
Maybe others will have some hints, but, in the meantime, maybe a little insight from the link may be the best for now. I hope!!

Thanks !!

OJ! Thanks!! You blessed me best response!
How very kind! Have you thought to grow lavender in the house? A little wee bush near a window and when it blooms it is lovely and the scent heavenly indeed! And it lives on and on..happy
