People living in the flood tunnels under the las vegas strip |
| |
| At first I thought this news story was a joke. Then when I realized it was real I thought it was crazy. After reading the entire story and seeing the video of the real people living there, I was saddened. I guess it is shelter but it is soooo sad. These people try playing on the spare credits from the casinos above them to make their daily living money. They made a makeshift shower out of a cooler. They live in the flood tunnels of Las Vegas. This is just insane. See for your self to believe......search las vegas flood tunnels, it is covered by "The Sun". I guess it is better than living in a cardboard box but still Omg. | | | | | |

| | CNN covered this, too. Isn't it terrible? We need to do something about the fact that people cannot fill out job applications without having a permanent address, because it makes it far too easy for people to fall through the cracks. It doesn't make any sense to me that this would be a requirement when it is homeless people who need the jobs the most...their social security number should be enough proof that they're not illegal aliens. I understand why that's required, but an address? | | | | | | |

| | That is interesting. I didn't know it was required. I mean I know it asks for it on an application but I just thought you left it blank if it didn't apply to you. But I also know the more blank spots on an application the least likely they are to hire you also. Probably especially a missing address. But they do need the jobs the most. | | | |

| | This is so sad. I think we will see more of it as it is going to get worse. They say the economy is getting better, but there are so many without jobs and the prices are going up. People are falling through the cracks everywhere. | | | | | | |

| | Ya I wasn't sure if it was happening more or if we were maybe just paying more attention to it than we used to. | | | |

| | A lot of things that seem berserk aren't even entertainable until you experience them first hand. You may think that life is one way, until you experience it being another. You may not believe in the arcane, but there is evidence everywhere that it could abound, and if you follow where it leads, you find a different thing... Homelessness and poverty are there. I wonder if some even prefer this way of living and would take a large sum of money doing something not normally understood with it. And maybe not. I'd rather not look at the pictures... Right now, of those who are suffering, only a symbol representing all suffering, we all have suffering. | | | | | | |

| | Yes I have known homeless people before. I myself have had to live with close to nothing at times. Live day to day. Sometimes it is simpler to almost give up. The hope is that we all come back eventually. | | | |
