How to post pictures?

How do I add an image? I know there's an add an image on the bottom left hand of the screen, but everything I upload a picture, it's not on my post. I am mostly a genius in computers, but myLot picture adding has defeated the great one! Thanks for your responses. I really appreciate the help. I am quite a newbie to myLot. Thanks a lot again!
