Can a person be spiritual without being religious?

I believe a person can. On the other hand, some religious people can be everything but spiritual. Some are active in their churches and religiously follow all the church's teachings but hard to get along with.
Any personal opinion?
How do you differentiate the two qualities?

why not? I don't belong to any religious orgnizations though occasionally I believe buddaism, but only occasionally. I don't kneel down to gods and goddesses, prepare fruit for them, eat only vegetables like other buddaism followers. I only believe in some codes well accepted by the whole society and humans.
