One of the most poignant events we should try to observe during the holiday season in the Philippines is the "Simbang Gabi" or "Midnight Mass." Celebrated only during this season, it is actually held not at midnight but at four in the morning. There is a popular belief that is: if one is able to attend the nine consecutive midnight masses from the 16th and 24th of December; whatever you wished or prayed for, will be divinely granted. After the mass, eating takes place outside the church from stalls offering Filipino delicacies like rice cakes called bibingka that are cooked over native clay pots and served with toppings of grated coconuts. I can't wait for this time to come. Its a season of love and gathering. For sure, I will be going to the midnight mass. I will ask for a good future to come, as a good career and a change in life. Of course, the Puto and the bibingka will never be forgotten in that time. How about you? Did you experience a Midnight mass for Christmas? Did you wish for something? It did come true?

The Christmas season is really fun for me because as a choir member in the church, this is the season for singing Christmas carols. It's also fun earning money through caroling. But sadly, I don't know if I would be able to attend a single dawn mass at all because of current circumstances.

Thank you I really enjoyed reading that. I hope that later on you will put some photographs on here for us to see. Christmas Eve, the 24th, we sing Christmas Carols around a Christmas Tree.

hello feodda, phew, it's coming again, christmas season, still am on the same side of the fence but not getting any younger. i know, night masses are coming up, i really did tried to complete the mass the last time but for some reason i got lazy after missing one mass. i never really believe the fact that a wish can come true after completing it. but what i do know is i became part of God's Birthday season and that's probably enough for me.
