The breeze of Christmas is here!!! Simbang Gabi or Midnight Mass  |

 One of the most poignant events we should try to observe during the holiday season in the Philippines is the "Simbang Gabi" or "Midnight Mass." Celebrated only during this season, it is actually held not at midnight but at four in the morning.
There is a popular belief that is: if one is able to attend the nine consecutive midnight masses from the 16th and 24th of December; whatever you wished or prayed for, will be divinely granted.
After the mass, eating takes place outside the church from stalls offering Filipino delicacies like rice cakes called bibingka that are cooked over native clay pots and served with toppings of grated coconuts.
I can't wait for this time to come. Its a season of love and gathering. For sure, I will be going to the midnight mass. I will ask for a good future to come, as a good career and a change in life. Of course, the Puto and the bibingka will never be forgotten in that time.
