For the first time we see the limited acting skills of Bonnie Wright. The scenes between Ginny and Harry were awkward not because they were meant to be, but because there was no chemistry and there was no passion and longing for each other. The only scene that captured that was when Ron and Lavender interrupted Harry consoling Hermione. Because of this, the school scenes felt way too draggy, with little purpose, where as readers of the books were constantly in suspenses as to what will happen between Harry/Ginny, Lavender/Ron/Hermione. Even the scenes with Voldermort felt lacking of sorts, as there is a certain fascination that can't be capture on scene.
I know I sound like I absolutely hated the film, which in a way I did, but I appreciate the effort put into making this film. The detail was amazing, but sometimes, I think that having such detail does not help make good films. My favorite HP film is Prisoner of Azkaban, which many fans hated. The film had a certain artistic value that can't be found in any other Potter film, it brought the audience through an emotional rollercoaster, the pace of the film was non-stop but with ample time for the audience to recover, unlike Globet of Fire.

Many fans dislike her because she is not as pretty as Emma, well who is? But my issue with her in Half Blood Prince is that her stiffness. She looked like an emotionless statue. Ginny is supposed to be this furious bold character by book 5/6. As for the all British cast, I can respect that as Jo felt it maintains the integrity of the films, plus Dan is just such a charismatic guys and he's acting has improved leaps and bounds. I tend to think that HP would have been a better series if they did a animated tv series on it.

XiaoLin (137) | 1 month ago | I am in the same position with you, Rainegurl, since I always watch the HP movies with my husband but I have already rea d the books, so I can make a comparison, while he doesn't. Since the third film onword I always felt the gap between the information given in the films and the story in the books. It is like the films are meant to be watched only by people who had read the books, otherwise they miss a lot of important hints for the understanding of the whole story. In this last film the lacking parts were so much that even my husband felt there was something missing. We discussed about it and we decided (yess, we arrived to this conclusion) that we didn't dislike the film, but we needed another part of it to be added. First, there's no Voldemort at all. There are no charachters beside Harry, Ron, Hermione and Malfoy, at school. When did Herry start liking Ginny? It doesn't explain anything. I love all the books so much and it's so sad that the films look so ... I don't know, incomplete.

| | 3. crimsonladybug (1898) | 2 weeks ago | I was less concerned with the scenes that were left out of the movie and more concerned with the scenes that were ADDED! Specifically the Death Eaters burning up the Burrow. Partly because the Weasleys have suffered enough, they didn't need that too and partly because a big part of the beginning of the seventh book takes place in the Burrow and they ruined the continuity by setting it on fire. Now they'll have to go somewhere else for Bill and Fleur's wedding...and the accompanying insanity.
