marianna.. I lived in Malaysia.. and for me. my monthly expenses just on food itself, will be around RM500 or so..
I don't buy really expensive food, and here some hypermarkets have cheap veg available.. even they won't last long in the fridge, at least a day or two, but coz it's cheap and I cook on a daily basis, so, it's worth it..
the money more spend on poultry and also some fish and prawns.

You know how much expensive is food here, so i spent 400 dollars in a month for food.
Of course that i buy all what i need, less vegetables and fruits, just because i have my own garden, and i have all this fresh; so, is a kind of help for my budget;
When i say food, i say all for house too, just because this money i spent to supermarket, and i buy too things for clean home.

I spend about 100 dollars a month on food.
Perhaps some people may hold the idea that 100 is not a big number when compared with the living standard of European and American. In fact, in my country, China, 100 dollars is enough for me for I have no interest on meat, which is so expensive in my country.
Expect for the expense on food, I spend less than 50 dollars on shopping, groceries and so on.

All things here in Korea are expensive. So the food also is expensive. Based on my calculation, we spent $200 in a month for food only. We still have some bills to pay like medical and life insurance. and more. So we spent $1000 for all bills with food in a month.
