How to Lock Down Your Facebook Account? | | As the most popular social networking website, Facebook is becoming a great way to keep in touch with old friends, relatives and other contacts online. At the same time, it is a great place to spread personal information, share pictures and so on. However, have you been aware of the danger of your privacy? Are you familiar with the the privacy settings of Facebook. Some of my friends are hacked on Facebook for their carelessness.
About 2 months ago, I heard a story about an 82-year-old man in Auburn. He was scammed out of $5,200 because his Facebook profile was too forthcoming, which sounds so frighting.
From where I stand, the privacy setting on Facebook is not enough for us to privatize our profile. So, do you have some good tips on protecting our privacy?

Facebook is constantly updating their security to protect us from these people, but still some manages to get into our account. Have seen several programs used to hack one's account and have tried it too and work. After a while Facebook detected it and found put a counter security for this program. You can never protect your privacy in Facebook or any other social sites but you can be careful and cautious enough not to divulge any important information about yourself.

A lot of times people don't realize how much access other people have to their information and than they don't really have anyone to blame for their misfortunes but themselves.
My profile is private on Facebook and I only talk to people I actually know from work, previous jobs, school and family. It's my favorite website for social networking but I'm very careful with the information I provide. To be honest, a lot of older people who use the Internet don't notice a scam when they see one, especially when money is involved. They'll get e-mails and things of that nature that say "you've won" or "we need this information" and they provide it because they don't know any better. This is why spam messages go in our spam section of our e-mail provider, or well most do.
