$27.00 per month for landline service, that is too much of cost for me monthly, plus I have a cell phone, my mom and dad have one separately. We barely pick up the landline ever since. Only the telemarketers keep on calling our line for solicitation. And we just need to eliminate that extra cost. So, I simply call AT&T to cancel my account for the landline service. To my surprise, it definitely not gonna affect my internet service here. So, I have nothing to worry about. Now,I switch to Magic Jack with only $24.99 per year. How awesome. The customer service from AT&T doesn't ask any further question either, simply cancel it for me without further selling technique. Everything goes smoothly. So, how many of you already get rid of your landline?

Wow, so you absolutely no need cell phone at all? That is amazing, just like my parents. They never have a cell phone themselves, and they still using the magic jack, but it is not the same as cell phone though.

In India, Landline service is only become a verfication document for government. Most of Indian banks ask for phone bill for address verification as alternative.

I am 28 years old - been on my own since I was 18 and have never had my own land line. I have always carried a cell phone so I do not have the need for a land line. It would just be a waste of money :)

I havent had a landline phone since 2000, we have had cell phones since we were dating --my hubby and me... and we were paying for our landline phone and our cell phone... we ended up using our cell phones more because the calls were for free and the phone would charge for everyone... so we eliminated it and havent looked back since... and have been very happy with our choice, after all our cell phones are with us everywhere... the landline phones were only being used by the sales calls and we never answered them....

In my place also maintaining a landphone is unpractical... when the mobile phone rates are very low and much more affordable for extended usage... But I have no other choice but to stick with it.. because my broadband internet plan is a good offer with a reduced total rent along with landphone.. that in case I surrender my landphone I have to find another broadband service provider..(in fact there are no better providers).. I've heard that many who don't use the internet facility surrundered landphones..
