Technicly only 8 planets actually, in our solar system. Pluto is now considered a dwarf planet. So in our solar system, we have 8 planets, and 3 dwarf planets, Pluto, Eris and Sedna. They have now however discovered almost 190 other planets around other stars, though we don't know much about them yet. We can't really see them very well, the glare of their stars pretty much makes it difficult to view them directly.
