If you will go for dinner, in some of your friends house, in visit, you will bring something as gifts? Here we like to bring flowers for house lady, maybe a wine buttle for man and candies and something nice as a toy, or fruits for kids. Is not nice to go in visit with empty hands. Do you like to bring something when you go in visit to your friends, or somebody from your family?
Are this time to hard for you and you can t real buy something as gift for somebody where you go in visit,
or you just don t go there if you don t have some money to buy something?

in my personal opinion i do bring a bit of something but it also depends on the occassion or the person i am visiting, if like for my most closes friends i bring something alternately because i am too often in their place i might run out of things to give if i will bring every time cause i visit them like every other day or week depending on the place and that is if its only a unoccational visit but if it is an occational visit like its a birthday or christmas i will sure to bring something.

I usually bring something, not because it's the custom here in Canada, but because I like to do things like that for my friends and family. I usually bring things like flowers, food, something from the coffee shop, chooclate, whatever I can think of that they will like, but that also says something about me, since I brought it.

I get some sweets if I go for a visit to my friend's house. It is customerty to get some thing, especially sweets if they have kids at home. But, it is not a must. I feel that it is nice if we can get somethig when we visit them. It is common to get fruits when we visit somebody in hospital or while visiting old people. We don't have the custom of giving flowers on visit.

I do go with some special eatable items when I visit some friends and relatives. I generally pick up rare items which are liked by everybody and not easily found in their locality.

icesmile.. it very much depends on what occasion.. at times, when my boss invite us over for dinner, we normally will not bring anything, as she has instructed not to do so.. as for family members, normally we do..
as you mentioned, either a bottle or some homemade cookies that I made myself for them.
