Rough Guides published Travel Around the World so that would make excellent reading. There is also a book called Work Your way Around the World so if you wish to have a working trip that book would be wonderful for you. I suggest you look at The Great Escapade with Air New Zealand and two other airlines. It offers a reasonable cost around the world airfare and the price is based on the number of times. I think the basic is 29,000 miles and additional miles are available to purchase. I went around the world when I was 20 years old. Happy travel planning.
