do you believe in the bible? |
|
Of all the books that has been written since the world began, The Bible has been the most consistent in terms of history, teachings, doctrines and mysteries.
Do you believe in the Bible's teachings? There are lots of self-proclaimed Christian ministries all over the world that does not really uses the Bible as its regular basis. Christians should use the Bible to teach doctrines based on it. It is where they can find the teachings and doctrines of Jesus Christ but they don't really read them in their preachings. Basis-wise, they should use it.
There is a Christian movement here in the Philippines that uses the Bible as its regular handbook. They read it. They preach the doctrines in it. They live what's written in there. I believe in them. I should because I have heard their leader at work. He preaches using the Bible. People can ask about anything related in the Bible and he can answer all of them, and his answers are all based in the Bible also. There is a very undeniable fact on what he's telling. No ministers of other religions can fight with him in a debate. There is really power on what he says. He is a modern-day wise man.
Do you believe in the Bible? Why? Why not?
How can you defend your answer?

3. Harley009 (667) | 3 months ago | Do you believe in the New testament fully?
What about Old Testament Do you believe in it fully, If Yes Why, if NO why?
| |
| |
|
|
ethanonthemoon (367) | 3 months ago | Is this a premise question to debate me?
Yes. I do believe in both of them. Because it was written through the chosen prophets and teachers and people of God since time immemorial.

ethanonthemoon (367) | 3 months ago | Christ himself quoted teachings, specially prophecies of the Old Testament. So it follows that if you are a Christian, you must also look back and read the Old Testament. You can't fully understand the Bible and its teachings if you'd only choose to read a book, or a chapter or a verse from it.
An analogy of this is, you need to learn elementary arithmetic before you go to advance mathematics.

Harley009 (667) | 3 months ago | OK,
Can you explain me the following verses?
M't:5:17: Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. M't:5:18: For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. M't:5:19: Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. M't:5:20: For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

ethanonthemoon (367) | 3 months ago | You need to look at the Bible as a progressing book. It progressed from the time of Adam and Eve, to Moses, to the time of the prophets, to Jesus' time, to our time, and to the time of end. There are what you call dispensations.
When God said "multiply and be plentiful...", He said that to Adam and Eve. It is a law that Adam and Eve should do as a couple. It is but logical for God to say that to Adam and Eve because they were the only man and women then. Would you take this law for yourself?
Who told Moses to go to Mount Sinai to get the Ten Commandment? It was God who told Moses to go up in Mount Sinai. It is a law for Moses. Would you go to Mount Sinai also to get the two tablet of stones of the ten commandments?
What I'm telling is, you need to look for laws that specifically goes through your dispensation. We are in Jesus Christ's dispensation. His laws, from God, must be obeyed.
The Old Testament is still here because there are instances and circumstances that must be read for comparison purposes. Jesus' commandments are more specific than those in the ten commandments. And you can't really understand what is written in the New Testament when you don't know where it came from.
It is aptly called New Testament because something got old.

Harley009 (667) | 3 months ago | OK, I quoted those verses from the New Testament, Gospel of Jesus According to Mathew. Can you explain those verses?

ethanonthemoon (367) | 2 months ago | I can't, really.
You can ask on this site instead, angdatingdaan.org.
I can explain it but it is much more clearer if you ask it to those who really can answer you completely.

4. Frederick42 (1288) | 3 months ago | No, I do not believe in the Bible because I have full freedom not to believe in it.
God himself never appeared in front of me and told me that Bible is his word. So, I am under no obligation to believe. Furthermore, God has given me a questioning spirit. So, it is my duty to my god that I question about not only Bible, but any other thin under the sun.

ethanonthemoon (367) | 3 months ago | Hello Frederick42.
Faith is something you believe in without any proof that can be sensed. Why would God Himself would appear to you if you don't believe in His words in the first place.
Its like someone you know have sent you a letter through postal mail. You received his mail but you don't believe that that letter came from him because he did not send it himself.
Well, its your choice anyways. Just think. If you think you are thinking... well think some more. Maybe you can find some more logic behind your logic now.

| 6. lightwithin7 (41) | 3 months ago | I think The Bible does have some valuable lessons that we can learn from, but I don't believe some of the things that are written in them. But then again, I might believe it if I see something similar happen in real-life, or I feel something. It'll depend on how much one can relate with it, I think. But for the most part, I can't say I believe in everything the bible says.
