I am always having a hard time getting some enough sleep everyday, (maybe because of myLot haha!) But seriously, I am having a hard time finding my sleepiness in me. I am always exhausted when I get home from work but still I can't sleep right away. I am thinking of taking sleeping pills or supplements for sleep deprived people.

Do you have any experiences with sleep pills? What are the effects or side effects (if any) of such pills or supplements?

Please share some of your experiences and ideas. thank you.

Hi redphile,
That story happen in one of hundred.
I mean your case is rare happen.
I got friend who actually got hardy to sleep.
What he do is take a sleep pill as you recommend.
At the first, it was effective.
He can sleep after took that pile.
He continuous took it for everyday.
The long effect is he got addicted with that pill.
Without that pills he cannot sleep.
Here i would like to share with you how to get sleep better.
you are tired working but still did not get sleep.
How about you go for listening story or watch a long adventure movie.
Maybe your eyes got sleepy.
Then you will sleep.

yeah, you should have a lot of self control foryou not to be addicted. When I get home, I dont have enough energy to watch a movie, I just fall directly to bed but still cant find any sleep. Strange huh. Maybe I have insomnia or something..

not really..especially in todays world..ppl are pushing themselves too hard, there is so much to thnk about (even things we dont REALIZE that are draining us and stressing us) and so on...In fact sleeping problems are quite commonplace these day..

they said that there are side effects in taking up sleeping pills redphile. i suggest you to exercise and proper diet. and my other suggestion would be, take a swim in the pool or at the beach and tire yourself up (^^,) hehe

According to me a big NO for sleeping pills But i am seeing a lot of us from college students to retired employees taking sleeping pills in a frequently .These pills have the ingredients which causes a mild addiction to our human system so frequent usage of these pills will cause severe side effects . The sleeping pills are mainly for those depressed and feels rejected from the real world. If you think that you are depressed and not able to sleep first consign all your emotions and stuffs to a psychiatrist .. then if prescribed you can take it ..

im not depressed, just feeling sleepy and always tired from work. yeah, maybe ill see a doctor and see what happens..=)

I have been taking sleeping pills for about 30 years now but off and on.
I never take the pill every night but only when I really need it. When I am in fatigue,exhausted and stress, I have to take the pill. Now I am taking a third of Xanax( 0.5mg) and it helps to relax my mind and then fall asleep. I never take it more than half because scared I might get addicted.

I used to take OTC sleeping pills because I'm an insomniac but I've gotten varied effects from them. One of the pills I took didn't make me sleepy at all even if I was taking the maximum dosage. Then the other one I took made me too dependent on it to the point where I couldn't sleep without popping one in. I think that's the worst that can happen, being overly dependent on the sleeping pill. Thank God I was able to get over my dependency on sleeping pills. Maybe it would be best if you consulted a doctor first and ask him what sleep-inducing pill you should take.

Drug dependency is always very bad. Long term medication creates additional complicacy. I also suffer at times from sleeplessness. But every time, i found, meditation helps a lot in my cases.
Next you ever face any insomniac situation, try it.

I used to stay up all night, a real night owl, until I had a heart attack and then over night my life changed. I also started waking up before 5am and couldn't go back to sleep so I would get up. It felt like the middle of the night.

I wanted to try sleeping pills but then my thoughts would go back many years to my mother who had so many addictions and I just couldn't take them.

My doctor tells me that he can prescribe non-addictive sleeping pills but I still can't bring myself to use them.

I decided to try meditation to relax myself and that seems to have worked wonders. I will meditate about an hour before I want to retire for the night.

I still get up really early but at least I sleep now.

Its really scary, I might get addicted. Sometimes if youre tired and exhausted, I sometimes dont have control and I just pass out because of it. Medidation needs silence right? Hmm I need to find a place in this house where theres no noise.. (I wonder if we have that here..)

I'm a Chronic Insomniac and I actually do take pills for my sleep and even then its not the best sleep BUT at least I sleep for a couple hours at a time....My husband however is like you..he works hard all day and when he gets home he's just beat...falling asleep isnt an issue for him but staying asleep is and getting good sleep is....His problem IMO is that he's not giving his brain a chance to wind-down..Even when he is seemingly relaxing (like when we watch a movie together for example) you can tell him mind is still goin a mile a minute....

I would suggest to you that you change up your nighttime/before bed routine...Shut the computer off or tv etc an hour before going to bed..dim the lights, maybe try some breathing exercises or guided meditation....There are numerous things you could try before resorting to pills....NOT ALL pills are addictive BUT getting in the habit of takin a pill to go to bed can be...If after trying a variety of things you still are having trouble then I would suggest goin to your doc for meds as an absolute last resort

I will definitely gonna see a doctor first! Yeah, during my off, I tire my eyes out in front of my laptop, and then boom I lie down and fall asleep, and yeah its difficult staying asleep.

Hi Redphile,

All the peoples would have similar problems of sleepless
night and also it is too danger, if you don't have the good sleep
in the night time. Because according to the medical suggestion we
should sleep at least for the period of 6 to 8 hours daily in order
to have the good mentality and also having the good energy to active
more and more in our work. So still you have similar problems then better
to go and see your nearest doctor for the consultation and he may writes
for the mild type of sleeping pills for the period of 5 to 7 days, and then
you have the good sleeping in remaining days.

I am feeling so bad for you about your insomnia.

Sleeping pill? NEVER AND NEVER.

It will form your dependency on drugs. In course of time it will create further more complicacy.

Do some yoga exercises and if possible do meditation.

You need to make your mind and soul convinced that you should sleep. Your body feels exhausted and tired, it means that the body needs to sleep. But problem is with the mind and soul. In these cases, meditation helps a lot. Have a sound sleep tonight. Thank you.

Look for a meditation centre in your city, Enquire about them. They generally run short training modules. Learn this in a convenient time. It is definitely going to help you.

I have had insomnia for years now, and every doctor I've been too suggested pills.
even so, I never took them and never will- I rather find other ways to fall asleep and not pop pills>_>

Oh how I wish it were that easy for me! sadseriously..I have other meds i need to take daily so having to take 2 additional ones just to get SOME sleep is so cruddy...I managed fine without them for yrs (my hsuband use to be floored that I could function extremely well on very minimal broken up sleep each night LOL) the older I get though the less I seem to tolerate it so taking meds is needed for me...
