civil engineering is a mother of engineering  

I'm a Civil engineering student but I didn't know about this until now. I can understand why you say it's the mother of engineering but why not the father?

I had been a computer science student ,I dont know exactly about your Query but in general one can prove that It exists more than 10000 years ago,because history proves us ,there are many buildings and monuments that are still exists today,may be civil engg. is not named in 10000 years ago ,but they done the same work as the engineers do And hence we can accept it as a mother of engineering,since it is the first emerged

Yes, it makes since that the designing of roads, buildings, and bridges would be considered the "mother" of engineering. Those things have been in existence eons longer than say modern technology!
