U.S. Military Internet security |
| |
| I've been trying to research (to no avail) what security programs the U.S. military uses for it's computers. Like firewall protection, virus and spyware protection.Does a software company make one specifically for the military? Surely it wouldn't be one like Norton or windows defender. I wanna know cause I figure if it's good enough for the military it's good enough for all of us to use. And surely it's top notch whatever it is, cause they would need to guard their computers from outside attacks more so than the average pc user. Anyone have a clue? | | | | | |

| | ROFL! good luck with that. It isn't likely the u.S. military is about to start telling everyone it's security measures for it's computer systems any more than it is likely to tell people what sort od security it uses to protect bases, weapons and persoanl or weapons sytem specs and such. | | | | | | |

| | Maybe I stated the question improperly. I dont expect the military to post it on the DOD website but surely there is some article out there someone has read or someone who has been in or is in the military that knows whether or not a commercial internet security program is used or a specially made program. Some years ago a head of an internet security co. called ForensicTec hacked many of the governments depts claiming he was showing how easily he COULD break into their systems. I could see that if the gov't is using Norton or windows defender. | | | |

| | I don't think they will use commercial software for their firewalls. From what I have read they create their own software or hire a contractor for their protection of their network. Most of it is opesource software like linux and customized it that fit their needs. | | | | | | |

| | the U.S security programs are developed in a top secret process that one can can tamper with. even the companies who deal with US security are watched seriously. the US security program cant be hacked too because the US security doesnt connect to the internet like we do. afterall, who wants to mess with us security? im sure not everyone. | | | | | | |
