| Baby Einstein Videos... | | | | I just read an article on Yahoo that says that the American Academy of Pediatrics says that children under 2 should not watch tv for long amounts of time. Disney has been threatened with a class action lawsuit for "deceptive advertising" regarding its Baby Einstein videos. While Disney has claimed these videos make children smarter, studies have shown prolonged tv exposure in early years leads to decreased attention spans when children get older. My child is only 3 weeks old, but I planned on letting him watch Baby Einstein when he got older. Now my mind has changed. Has anyone let their children watch the videos? Do you think it has negatively affected your child? Is anyone's child currently watching those videos, and do you plan on stopping? Just wondering what everyone out there is thinking?? | | | | | | | | | | Ask a Lawyer: Child Law 12 Family Lawyers Are Online! Ask a Question, Get an Answer ASAP. JustAnswer.com/Law/Child

| | I have always believed that TV should not be used as a babysitting tool. I can't imagine sitting my child in front of the TV for hours on end. I do let my small children watch TV in moderation. It is on in the background most of the time while they are playing and they watch it when something catches their eyes. I don't think it will hurt their intelligence or their attention span because I am a very active mother and am constantly challenging them in everyway possible. Sometimes I feel like parents are looking for something to blame other than themselves for a child's deficits. I do not think Disney should be sued for deceptive advertising. Buyer beware. Parents need to accept the responsibility of the outcome of their own children and stop blaming others. | | | | | | | | | | Ask a Lawyer: Child Law 12 Family Lawyers Are Online! | | In my opinion, I don't think it is good to have prolonged time on T.V. or videos. I left my children to watch educational CD when they were 1 year old. At 1 year old, I gave them the time spent on educational CD for maximum 15 minutes. When they were 2 years old onwards, I let them watch 15to 30 mins max. Eye break or relax after 30 minutes. I prefer to give flash card when they were young to train up their attention span and bond with your children.
