A Fake Facebook Site |
|
Today i see news in yahoo that there are a new fake facebook site. This fake facebook site is exactly almost the mirror of the original facebook home site since it has the same appearance. The different thing about the fake with the original is the URL where this fake facebook use facebook.co.tv.
The site actually not doing anything but only recorded your user name and password when you enter from that site. After you enter it, the fake facebook will then forward you to the original facebook so you will think that you simply enter the wrong password. The url of tha facebook spread trough message, it is a hoax that saying facebook now is selecting it active user and will delete those will not login from that site. Anyway, do you ever meet this kind of site, not only for facebook but for other site too. Also what do you think about this kind of site?
Thanks

1. Jennlk84 (2275) | 3 months ago | I didn't hear about this until now. That's really weird. So you sign in on this fake site and then they basically steal your username/password for the real Facebook and hack it?? Weird. I doubt I'd ever accidentally type in that site URL, so I'm not too worried about it.

lordcaocao2025 (568) | 3 months ago | Well, actually they do it with sending you message with a fake url. They send you a fake message, pretending it is from facebook admin. Say something about facebook being too crowded or something and will select only a few user so the user need to log on now. They say it facebook.com, but in the href they actually write facebook.co.tv. Well, most people actually gonna ignore them, but an ignorance newbie will no doubt fall into it.

IMEzekieL (505) | 3 months ago | I believe this thing on cloning sites is called phishing. So yeah, I guess it's like hackers are fishing for your password.
| |
|
|
lordcaocao2025 (568) | 3 months ago | Yes, i think you are true. A phishing site is a imitation of other site which purpose is usually to steal other people password. It is a very bad site and best to be avoid. I just hope those who make the site, stop doing this since it really are a crime to steal other private data. Anyway, thanks for responding to this discussion. Happy mylotting.

But I haven't checked out the URL. What does this probably mean? Why are they hacking the email and password? What for? Do I have to worry on such things? I always log in to facebook everyday.

lordcaocao2025 (568) | 3 months ago | Well, there are many advantage of having another facebook account. For example, after they get your id. They will learn about you and your friend. Look how you communicate, then they will act like you and start requesting aid or money transfer from your friend. This kind of trick happened a lot where people still other id. Also, they can make you a spam and promoting their site. Anyway, be very careful and change your password regularly.

But I guess a lot of people will fall for it and click on the link without looking. I remember a few months back it was all over the news how facebook was breaching privacy for Canadians. As a Canadian I feel they havent fixed this and people can still get your info. Also, I think they sell off your info to other companies anyways.

lordcaocao2025 (568) | 3 months ago | Really, i never actually heard the news. Isn't it what facebook do is a crime then? Has anyone sue this or at least, it's facebook already make a public announcement about this. Selling our info into other with our consent, can we actually think that is a crime? Thanks for responding this discussion.

LdeL0318 (509) | 3 months ago | Well how about me? I think I already encountered it. It makes me nervous now. Do I have to be?
| |
|
|
lordcaocao2025 (568) | 3 months ago | @Kent Yes, but as long as you always on guard, and check always the href link while you click some link because most of the trick usually put a false href. But even if href is true, it still can be forward you to the wrong url if the link have a javascript command that forwand you, so check also the url. Be caution whenever you enter your password and you will be safe while playing facebook and many other internet web site all over the web.
@LdeL0318 I think if you already meet such a site, and then you enter your password into it. The best way is to quickly change your password. Also check most of your personal data and security question. Check also the e-mail address. Ok, i hope that will help. Thanks for responding.

9. silverglint (1479) | 3 months ago | That is alarming, good thing I am very careful with messages that are emailed to me since they do have a tendency to be scams. I wonder what they plan to do with the accounts that they hack? to send viruses? or maybe advertisements? I don't know why people do such things tsk tsk

| |
|
|
lordcaocao2025 (568) | 3 months ago | Yes, most likely they will use the id they get to make another trick and scam. They people trick our friend to give them money. But maybe advertisement gonna work too. Or maybe all the combination of them. I just hope this kind of scammer stop doing what they do.

lordcaocao2025 (568) | 3 months ago | Yes, i actually also receive a yahoo fake admin e-mail requesting me to go to the fake yahoo site. Also, there are people who want to hack my paypal account with giving me e-mail to request me login from fake paypal site. Since i actually don't use the same e-mail id for my paypal, i know it is a very obvious lie. So be very careful every time you click a link some one gave you. you never know what evil plan they have. Thanks for responding.
