brad pitt and the make it right foundation is building houses that are appropriate for flood. it can float! that is so cool. after a flood that almost swept out our city a house that can float is very appropriate for my mother specially. her house was flooded up to the roof at the last typhoon. it is said "that in case of flooding the home can literally break away from its moorings and rise up to 12 feet on two guide post. it wont float away but it will act as a raft and provide the family with enough battery power to allow them to survive up to three days until help arrives." this is all at new orleans. this is so cool. heres the link for more info http://www.inhabitat.com/2009/10/06/brad-pitt-unveils-floating-house-for-make-it-right-foundation/

This is certainly very good news. I have always admired celebrities whom are always thinking of those in need. Seems that Brad Pitt has joined Angie's mission to help others in need; that's just so2x cool.
Rising up to 12 feet certainly isn't bad and I think by 3 days until help arrives; that's just a wonderful solution to the current situation. Thanks for sharing this link; I'm more aware now about this..

yes this is so cool. people will no longer get scared to live in a place where one was covered with flood water. people will feel safe with a house that will float in case of flood. all you need now is to have emergency food and store water to drink. thanks a lot for the response

we should do that, be responsible to store enough food and water when it storms. now there is a warning of typhoon again and me and my wife bought enough food and water and batteries as well. bought also a portable stove so we can still cook food even there is flood. we were caught unaware last month so now we are ready

Hi 7thB,
This is really cool. How i wish our government can take a look at this one for further study and implementation too in our country particularly those areas that are prone to flood. This is a great innovation. Cheers to Brad Pitt!

I will try to check on this too and read some more information about the floating house boat. It will be a Noah's Arc Revival. History really repeats itself.

That is a cool and practical idea of building houses in Philippine, a country where flooding is so often during monsoon season and can happen in any time of a year. I am just surprise why no Filipino has ever think of it before, by making their houses float like a ship during flood is as practical as necessary for life there, it is a lot better than to see either the house get wash away or inundate with water to the roof. The home builder just have to use float-able material and redesign home building technique in the future to counteract the risk of flooding, i believe it can be done and indeed is a very suitable alternative living quarter for most of the people living in hundred of Philippine Islands.

i wish thay will make something like this now that we are aware that it is possible. but mostly of the politician here in our country are curropt and they are more open on what they can gain but not what they can or how can they help. i am not surprino Filipino has ever think of this for i know the goverment will not support it. like for example the car that can run only i believe that the scientist who made that possible is a filipino but the government did not support it for the oil business might sut down. its a head ache to be a scientist in the philippines for the government will not support you. thanks a lot for the response
