Thinking of taking the kids on holiday to cornwall | | I love cornwall I went there several times as a child and have happy memories. But now I am thinking of taking my kids and I have no idea of the best places to go. Has anyone here been to cornwall? And can you recommend the best places to go to and to see?

| | 2. Sandra1952 (1701) | 3 months ago | I live in Spain, but we have a holiday chalet near Padstow, in a village called St Merryn. There are lots of nice beaches there, in fact as you enter St Merryn the sign boasts, '7 Bays for 7 days.' There is plenty of accommodation in the area - campsites, self catering and hotels. It's 4 miles from Padstow and 15 miles from Newquay, which is great for families. It's also more or less in the middle of Cornwall, so it's an ideal place for exploring. Plymouth is about 50 miles away, so manageable as a day trip.
Truro, Cornwall's only city, is about 25 miles from St Merryn, and Falmouth is about 10 miles from Truro, so you could visit both in one day if you wished. There's a big weekend market at Par, near St Austell, and there are lots of car boot sales during the summer, if you like that sort of thing. There really is lots to see and do - try to go for a fortnight, as a week is unlikely to be enough.

Skyeblue25 (194) | 3 months ago | Thanks for responding and for the great advice. Do you know if there are any theme parks or zoos in Cornwall that we could visit?
Oh and I love car boot sales, though I always seem to buy more than I sell. lol

Sandra1952 (1701) | 2 months ago | There's a zoo at Newquay, and a seal sanctuary at Gweek, near Helston. Flambards theme park is also at Helston, which is about an hour from Padstow. Then there's Creally Adventure Park near Wadebridge. There may be others, but those are the ones I know of that are worth a visit. Glad to help.
