Knowing more about mylot's tasks?

Being a newbie, I have explored most of the tabs available here in mylot.
Seeing that the tasks can help you generate more money, I could not understand how it works. I did read and re-read what it says about tasks but still could not comprehend exactly.
Can you help me out on this?
