I am just curious because most people would say, asbestos is very dangerous. It can cause cancer when you are exposed to it. I wonder if how dangerous it is to the body? I've heard that there are asbestos in the back of our church, right in the fellowship hall area. Is that really dangerous? I am eager to know.

It is, but most people didn't know it was bad. Now you have a bunch of lawsuits that are dealing with people having lung cancer. I worked some of those cases and basically we just waited for the defendant to die before the plant would pay out. Its a bad way to go.

Hey Bebs! Asbestos is extremely dangerous if you breathe it in! It is a cancer causing material that is now found in old building as is lead paint! It depends on the levels as to how dangerous it actually is, but no matter what any level of asbestos is dangerous so if if is in the building and exposed you do not want to be there!

Asbestos is as dangerous over a period of time as coal dust. Being fron the Carolinas you can relate to that. In fact it is illegal to use asbestos in construction in this country any more. Even workers involved in getting rid of it in buildings are at risk. If it is in your church everyone who spends any time at all in that area on a regular basis is in serious danger, including children. I suggest your church see about having it removed asap. If people begin to be affected by it the church is in for some big lawsuits.

Yes, it is obvious that the asbestos very dangerous for it may cause various serious diseases. According to some specialists, asbestos becomes dangerous when it breaks into pieces small enough to enter deep into the lungs. Significant exposure to any type of asbestos will increase the risk of lung cancer, mesothelioma and nonmalignant lung and pleural disorders, including asbestosis, pleural plaques, pleural thickening, and pleural effusions. The conclusion is supported by results from animal and mechanistic studies. Happy myLotting!
