According to an article on Sphere, there are some prisoners who are being given the H1N1 vaccine before the high at risk public. What do you think, is this fair? I realized because its a bunch of people house together that they are at high risk for an epidemic, but so are teachers, daycare workers and nurses and we can't even get it yet. Its my personal opinion that the general public should have access to the vaccine before criminals do. Whats your opinion? If you want to read the article here is the link http://www.sphere.com/2009/10/28/fury-erupts-over-h1n1-shots-for-prisoners/?icid=main|main|dl1|link3|http://www.sphere.com/2009/10/28/fury-erupts-over-h1n1-shots-for-prisoners/ (not a referrral link).

of course they are.the state doesn't want to deal with an in-house epidemic. they get a lot better care than the public at large.i know somebody who did something purposely to be jailed so they could get treatment for a catastrophic illness.

Wow, thats sad. That says a lot about out nation if people are committing crimes so they can get meals and health care.

it is.my state in particular is going down in flames with the economy. but most of the jobs here never have offered insurance benefits unless you're healthcare, shipyard or city worker. i've only had insurance once myself and that was when i lived in another state briefly.it was ridiculously expensive, but at least they did offer it.

I did not read the article. At 1st I was outraged that criminals would be vaccinated before children. But, then, the guards would catch this flu as well if it spread around the entire prison and bring it back to their families. And who's paying for the prisoners medical care when they do get sick and have to be hospitalized? It really doesn't seem fair that these people could commit crimes and sometimes get better perks than someone that hasn't done anything wrong!

But the guards aren't getting the vaccination only the prisoners and the medical staff. And as for who is paying, well we are. It does seem unfair they get better medical care than some of of us do.
