2. dsnachiever (142) | 3 months ago | Although I am not french learner but I have some idea of how to learn a language. Ask yourself how you learnt your native language. A small kid learn the his native language by listening to others. Not by learning grammer. Yes now to learn a new language you should know a bit of grammer. But it is important to listen to native speaker to understand the language. You should listen french videos. There is language programme of BBC which is available on their website. It's free and they offer all European languages. you listen to french speaker there. And you can also search for free online resources. Videos can also be find on youtube. Seriously, french is a good and easy language. And you should look for free online resources. Best of Luck!

3. GaryJoule (206) | 3 months ago | Don't take it as some kind of knowledge, just take it as a language. do you know how do you master your native language?
if you are learning French that's just like learning your mother language, you'll make rapid progress.
Language is NOT knowledge, keep in mind.

5. iheartblogging (392) | 3 months ago | I suggest downloading some songs you like in French, and learning the words. Sing along in the car, in the shower, etc. Much easier to memorize a song than rote repitition of phrases. Learn the meanings of the songs, phrase by phrase. Eventually you will be able to sing the songs and know what each phrase means without having to translate in your head. This will also help your pronounciation, although be aware that some mords are prnounced differently when sung than when spoken. I sing lullsbies to my daughter in French every night; this is how it went from a second language to fluency for me.
Also, converse in French as much as possible. With other students, with the teacher, with anyone you can find who knows even a little french.
Finally, while going about your-day-to-day activities, think about how you would narrate your life to a blind Frenchman. Describe everything you do in your head. If you don't know all the words, that's okay. Think of the words you do know, or circumambulate the word you're looking for using the words you do know (une chose construit de papier, instead of une livre, for example. Or just look up the word in a French-English-french dictionary. And if all else fails, fill in for the words you don't know using the english word, but with french placement (for example, if you don't know that jaune is the word for yellow, think 'un chien yellow' instead of 'un yellow chien'). At first it will feel like one big translation-fest is continuously going on in your head, but this will also help you to be able to understand the language, rather than having to translate everything in yuor head.
Once you're really starting to get good at it, check out children's books or magazines in French and read, read, read. Work your way up to adult books. It helps if you pick books you've already read, because then you'll understand what's going on, even if you only know every other word.
Good luck learning the beautiful language!=)
