Thank Goodness Computers Are Under Warranty

This why I buy HP products. they gave us Dell laptops at work and we all had so many problems with them I'm surprised they are still in business! Sorry! I've been buying HP for over 12 years and nver had a problem with anything from them! Tdemex

I always check the warranty with any new product I buy. I only buy reputable brands, because a warranty is useless if the company goes out of business.

As far as computers go, I have a great little computer shop that attends to all my computer business. Astrabyte is a local business which only sells and uses top quality products and they have willingly gone the extra mile for me. I check prices at other stores and Astrabyte always gives me a much better price than the lowest available.

I am strictly non-techno, so any I ring Astrabyte if I have any problems. If they can't help me over the phone, the technician will come to sort out the problem and once again they are very generous with their charges and have "thrown in" extras at times as well. When the problem has meant I'd be without a computer/modem/screen for a few days, they have given me a loan of one. I would be lost without them.

I am lucky enough to have nephews in the business of computers. They made mine with just the things I needed and so far it has been spectacular! I have no idea what kind it is as, they asked me what I was going to use it for and put it together just for me. I don't know if it will break - but they I am sure will help if it does.

My Warranty on my Laptop has run out now as it is over 1 year old I have not taken a new one as I can not afford the monthly Payments just yet so it will be a while before I can afford that lol I just need to hope that my Laptop stays faithful to me

I know just how you feel because I had a modem to blow out with me twice since I got this computer in February of this year. What happened was, lightning struck my house twice and both times it blew out my modem. Since my computer was under warranty, I had both of the modems replaced free of charge. Everytime we have a storm, I unplug my computer. You would think that after the first time it happened, I would learn my lesson. Because I'm getting olderlol, I forgot again! I try to remember everytime now. Kathy.

yeah i experienced that before. when i first bought my computer. it seems a lot of things don't work well but after some time it just to act normal again and so i didn't any more bright it back to be repaired and it is such a hassle to bring my cpu since it is quite bulky and i don't like to pay for transportation or taxi just to bring that to the shop . as i don't have car.

I have a three year warranty with the laptop I bought last year. I paid a little extra for it but I am so glad I did! I bought a great HP laptop which I had to return because it was scratched, got another one and had to return it because the touch controls would not work and the third had to go back because DVDs would not play properly on it. I could not believe it; this was HP which is one of the best computer brands out there! After contacting their head office and demanding a refund I bought myself a Toshiba Satellite and have not looked back; it works just fine and I’ve had it almost a year now. I decided on the extended warranty after all the problems I’ve had; it’s just piece of mind.

well warranty periods are absolutely necessary when it comes to computers, one of the things that could easily malfunction over smallest of mistakes, extended warranty is also advantageous, motherboard flaws are one the worst and they could easily change it without asking for some extra bucks coz the product is in warranty period.

I'm glad that some things come with warrantees but I never buy the extended warrantee anymore. I've never had anything go wrong with anything I've bought until long after the extended warantee has expired. Also, learning that salesmen are encouraged to push those extended warantees and get a bonus every time they sell one with any electronic gadget or appliance, I decided to stop paying that extra money.

One thing I'm fearing right now is that my laptop is causing some major problems... financial problems! I'm on my desktop right now. My husband had to completely reinstall everything, including the operating system. I'm so glad he did that because I'd have no computer to use at all right now if he hadn't. I turned on my laptop only to be told, in a pop-up from my anti-virus program, that a worm was trying to send my credit card information somewhere. I turned it off immediately! I did have that service called LifeLock, which secures and insures your personal information up to $1 million, but I had to let it lapse because of lack of funds. (It's only $9.95 per month, but we didn't even have that.) Now, I'm very afraid that our banking information has been breeched! I'll have to wait until he wakes up to tell him what just happened so that he can delete and reinstall everything on my laptop. Geez.

We just recently got new cell phones. Mine keeps freezing up like you mentioned about your computer. I have to reboot it at least once a day. I'm thinking about replacing it with another phone while it is still under warrantee. I've found that, if something is going to go wrong, it usually does it in the first year when the normal manufacturer's warrantee is still in effect.
