Do you know how to ride?

I used to go horse riding,but it came to the stage it was costing too much for me to keep going,so i gave it up.

I have ridden. Yhis year I only have twice but I hadn't been on a horse in 5 years! My horse,who was 31,was put down in July. He had health issues and I couldn't ride him anymore! That was 5 years ago! Riding is hard work when you srart out but once you get the hang of it it fun! Riding can get expenxive if you can't afford it! Owning a horse can be expensive but it is also very rewarding! I had my horse Major for almost 27 years! He was a great friend.thought me patience,we did a lot of trailing riding and I loved him alot! As for the question on who is capable of riding,that is easy! Just about anyone! Young,old,all types of sizes,and with just about any disabilities!

you are going to use muscles you didn't think existed and after your lesson they are ALL going to hurt

Its not HARD to ride, but it isn't something you are going to pick up over night. I took lessons for years and am still not a great rider. I could, when I was riding regularly, stay on a horse pretty well, but it wasn't always pretty.

So, just because you hurt after your lesson, don't give up, that is NORMAL. If you aren't perfect after a couple of years, don't give up, that is NORMAL.

I have ridden a horse before but I would not say I know how to ride because when I was little I rode a horse that belonged to our neighbor,and I did not do that good because the horse threw me off which sucked,and it kind of hurt from what I remember and I have not ridden a horse since,but I know the saying goes if you fall off a horse you have to get right back on,and I plan on trying to ride a horse again one day because I like horses and it would be nice to ride a horse,and I know my wife wants to ride a horse one day too.

There are two types of people that ride. They are naturals and workers. I thankfully was a natural and could jump on any horse and ride it. I have ridden all types, such as hunter/jumpers, reining, pleasure and speed horses. But my advantage was that I started riding when I was 4 and broke/trainned my first horse when I was 8. After riding the first few times you will know which one you are. If you get off and your butt is sore from bouncing around so much you will know that you have to work very hard at it.

You will want to get your inner thigh muscles prepared for riding as that is where it will pull the most. When working with new riders I often suggest that they get a playground ball and squeeze it between their knees to start strengthing these muscles. Put some squats into your workout and make sure you stretch well before getting on the horse.
