Just read a diary of one classmate, which makes me feel sad. She was in the memory of the life in college, and the nice days in the first year after graduation.I don't know what happened to her,as then she was really a lovely girl, people were used of seeing her laugh. But now she's so sentimental. I'm keeping thinking if girls would be sentimental when we're growing old. We'd like recall the past now and then. The first lover, the first good friend, the first dance, the first merit tec....All are in deep heart. We can't help thinking about that. How about you, friend???

Hi Lisa, I am growing old now, but not too old I don't think that your friend becomes sentimental because of the growing age. It did true that we will experience more along with the time, different sense from different age, it will bring different interest if you see the things from different aspect. It really depends on what kinds of personality. I am the age of marriage, but most of my friends treated me as a kid as I always consider things in a simple way.Life will be easier if we think it in a different way. Have a nice day.

Well, I guess you would call me old, rather than growing old, but even though I am 73 I certainly do not FEEL old, and no, I am not sentimental. I have been very happily married for almost 50 years. I have 5 wonderful sons who are very happily married and have given me 5 grandchildren so far. I work several hours every day in a voluntary capacity with a children's ministry and spent much time with children and teenagers. I live in the present and I'm too busy to be sentimental about the past. Sure, there are times I am caused to think of people in the past, but not sentimentally. I thoroughly enjoy my life.

Most of the oldies are sentimental as the gaps between the younger generations heighten this kind of feelings which really bother them when they reach the peak of their life while outgrowing the recent changes which have directly brought lot of dramatic effects on the way they view their current lifestyles. Some older people derive pleasure by remembering their past and recalling and anything tied to the past whether it is a person , things, or inanimate object it is pleasing to them whereas what the new generations explore seem unpleasant as most of the times they could not reach to learn it bearing the short time which they could have to focus more on their self and other things which they have experience. Aside from the difficulty brought by illnesses and all sorts of malingering diseases. Some oldies retain their wit and wisdom though still have the time to join their group letting happiness surround them then getting the youth to learn from them in return for their golden advices never goes wrong most of the times.

Well, like you said, we can't help thinking about that. We would always be like that when we grow old, and I think it is just normal. However, being too sentimental is not good, most especially if it already becomes something that blocks our efficiency to function in the real world. I wouldn't like to be someone who keeps thinking about the past when I grow old. I want to move forward, and I want to do everything that I can to help other people by sharing my experiences to them. Being positive and happy could really make a person think and act in a different and good way. Take care! :)

I think maybe something happened on your friend, or maybe she experenced something,so she changed and doesn't like before. The society is cruel and real, but your friend's college life is naive, and she lived a happy life.

There's difference between being sentimental and being nostalgic. Some people as the grow old become sentimental. More emotional compared to their younger age. But most of the people get nostalgic when they grow old. Thinking about past does make people nostalgic. When you cross many a miles, it's very much human tendency to look back and think how was the journey and what has happened good or bad and what could have happened. Personally I feel when I'll become an older person, nostalgia will touch my thought.
