Installing Windows 7 over Windows Vista |
|
I bought my laptop ACER 2920Z last May and it has a pre-installed Windows Vista. I don't Windows Vista because it is so slow. My actual laptop memory consumed is just 1/4 of it and it seems it runs like it is full. I did defragment and disk clean up it but still it is so slow. I heard about the wonderful reviews of Windows 7. Does anyone have it installed already? Please tell me how you did it. Thanks!

1. vonmac (2389) | 2 months ago | I heard that 7 was just as much a memory guzzler as Vista is. My husband wants to put XP on both our laptops but he has encountered a problem with drivers. I think 7 is quite expensive to purchase, but I understand its fairly straight forward to install.

2. AndrewFreyne (2574) | 2 months ago | If you want to upgrade to windows 7 then there's a very valuable tool that I think you should use. I have enclosed the link below. This is a free download from Microsoft and it scans your system to let you know if your computer is able to handle the upgrade. I would strongly advise that you do this first. Good luck. Andrew

| kawaiirinchan (16) | 2 months ago | thanks for the comment andrew. I already downloaded that application and it said that I can upgrade to 32 bit Home premium or Ultimate edition of Windows 7. hmmm i think i better wait first. A friend of mine said that I have to wait for acer to release the drivers for windows 7 or my upgrade will be in vain. so i think i better wait first. thanks, andrew.

| 3. shadabiitr (44) | 2 months ago | Hi Kawaiirinchan, I am using three operating system in my Laptop and I hope my answer will be exact solution of your question. I have Lenovo which was inbuilt with vista basic and currently I am using Xp-SP-3,Windows Vista Ultimate 64 Bit, Windows 7. But all of them I invest more time in windows 7 because it is fast all of them. NOTE: How to install all.... IF YOU WANT TO INSTALL ONE OPERATING SYSTEM:: "If you want to install only one then it is very easy shutdown your laptop and start and go to yout booting option and set it to your CD/DVD writer( After inserting your CD/DVD of windows which you want to install) and after booting your windows disk you see the list of your partitions so if you would like to remove windows which was install before then select the drive where windows is installed then format notice that only the drive which you are selecting will be format while all the drive will be save. now after the formatting you select the drive where you want to install your new windows. You can use the drive in which data are present but I recommend that you choose totally free space. and click install. then after the click windows will install automatically..Now new windows is installed on your Laptop." IF YOU WANT TO INSTALL MORE THAN ONE OPERATING SYSTEM:: This is same as above but, Please keep in mind you can install an operating system on the existence of other operating system if the existence OS are previous version of your new OS which you want to install. Like::: If you have windows vista and you want to install windows 7 then it will be right because existence OS,vista is previous version of 7 but if you want to install Xp then you can not do this because existence OS,vista is not previous version of Xp while Xp is previous version of Vista so in that case You must be install Xp and then you can install Vista. In my case my first OS is Xp So I think you will be know that I can use Vista and 7 both Yes I am operating all three OS. Hope enjoy with 7 Yet if you have any question you can feel free to ask me. If my answer is useful for you or any readers then please rate it.

4. Phlamingho (7359) | 1 month ago | I'm currently running win 7 RC1 - did an install on top of a pre-installed vista (i agree vista sucks) - no problems, you can easilly upgrade. It's the other way you'll run into problems, it's hard to downgrade to XP.
