Can you dial "911" using an unsubscribed cell phone?  | |  I heard people said that, if you have an unsubscribed cell phone, with no service provider whatsoever, you can still dial "911" for emergency help. Is that truth? I have an old cell phone, and it is without any service provider. I just wonder if I dial "911", would the emergency station pick up the signal? Had anyone tried before?

Personally I have not tried it before because my cell phones have always been linked to one service provider or another.
