Do you type LOL when you really do not laugh out loud?

Of course. Typing "LOL" reflects how you feel about a certain phrase, topic or conversation. Some people may not be smiling but they probably feel like laughing out loud.

Take me for an example, I don't literally LOL here at the office but that's how I feel about certain conversations or phrases from my friends.

Lol it is a word used in chat mostly, sort of appreciation, while typing this i never laugh out loud or feel like laughing, but i like the words.

I think most people just type LOL as a way of showing that they see the funny side of something that's been said. I think it's over used and sometimes people use it as a way of ending a sentence when they're stuck for words. I've used it when I haven't been laughing but sometimes I do laugh, in those situations I will type it in capitols.
