Ellipsis (...)

Hehe, yeah, I know how you get frustrated. The poor guy was flabbergasted when you asked him that straightforwardly. We just can never be too careful with those meanings. We just might be assuming when we shouldn't be in the first place, right?

Yep, the number of possible meanings is too huge to be able to guess accurately, even when considering the conditions. Getting an elaboration of those dots does stop further speculation but sometimes an explanation is not offered, and it's also not asked by the receiver of such reply. Don't know how, but does work for some people.

Would you mind stating a situation where in you would use those characters, and what would the meaning of it be in that situation..?

This incident was shared to us by a colleague of ours, a few days ago when we were having a 'holiday' at work. He was with some of our home school students at the park and it was alredy evening. They were headed to buy some soft drinks when they came across lovers on a bench and getting all romantic from a good distance, their location wasn't that well lit. They didn't mind too much of them and continued to go to where they were headed. Unfortunately, when they got to where they were suppose to get soem soft drinks, the dispenser wasn't working at all so they had to go back empty handed. They had to walk the same way they got there so they eventually went back to were the lovers were but, to their surprise, the couple seemed to have went over more than being passionate since, as my colleague described it, they were now fornicating. My colleague immediately insisted that they all go back before anything else got clear for the home school students.

Now, if I was with those home school students of ours, I'd just have those ellipsis running in my head and just get those home school students back home. Those ellipsis in my head would mean uncertainty for, if I go to make them stop whatever it was that they were doing, I'd ask myself why should I stop them if they really love each other so much, they couldn't contain their urges, even out in a public place. Well, that reasoning isn't something that I would like to debate on but, that's probably how my ellipses would go.

Uhm.. er.. yeah, that was a good example of a situation. So good in fact that I had the dots run across my head while reading that. Then the word: "awkward" popped. Id probably get away from there as fast as I can. Still experience culture shock whenever I read/hear about true stories like that.

Don't worry about it too much dear. Perhaps you were just tired or distracted with something more important.

yeah, only thing you can do, like you mentioned, is to be careful next time, and edit things according to how you feel they should be phrased/stated.

Dont forget to give yourself a break sometimes though.

Oh, learning about wrong things could just be like looking at the other side of a coin. It gives one options. It would be up to the individual if he/she would put it into practice.

You might be surprised just how much I learned from you already. There could be a lot more over the passage of time.
