Hi! everyone,

I am from Asia and now I'm in Canada.

My 2 friend treat me to a pizza parlor, we order 2 large pizza and when the pizza is in the table, after 2 slices one friend complain that her pizza is not good coz the sauce is not enough and she said if she can ask 10% discount coz the pizza wasn't not good. OK she got 10% discount for her pizza.

The 2nd friend complained and he said, my pizza don't have enough sauce? they put more sauce on the other pizza and mine don't have enough sauce?
THEN! the 2nd friend ASKED for another pizza, same size and same order FOR free.! granted!

I feel not good of that they did. COz i feel that they are doing that just to get the discount and to have another pizza for free and take it home!

And I told him that it's ok to ask another 20% discount BUT not to ask another pizza for free. They told me this is north America this is how we are.

For me it's too much!!!!
so all in all we got the our order 2 large pizza with 10% discount for one and the other is in the regular price PLUS the same size pizza FREE>

QUESTION????
1. IS this a culture in north America?
2. Why you ask another pizza if you ate the pizza you order?
3.It is ok to ask another batch of pizza? and you did not return your pizza doesn't good taste?

I'm kind of culture shock in this country.
now you can tell me if this is right or wrong of what my friend did?

Someplaces will give a discount or remove your meal if it is unsatisfactory and you were unable to eat it. However some people, like it seems to be the case in this scenario, just like to take advantage of the system.

I am really shocked too. It makes me wonder WHERE in Canada you are! I have also lived in Canada and this has never ever been anything I saw done.. NEVER! IN fact, the service has been good most anyplace I have eaten, Even in the USA! IF one has a complaint with the food one carefully addresses it with the waitress and likely someone( in authority)will approach and ask about the situation.

This,what has happened to YOU, is a total shock to me! I can hardly believe it! Where in Canada ARE YOU? That is ONE HUGE country. AND,, what is more,, I don't approve of the tactics your friends used either.. You do not eat food you do not approve of and then complain afterwards and expect reimbursement of money or MORE pizzas, one more or even double.. never! I have never ever heard of anything like it.

The Canadian people are a wonderful lot..AS are the Americans. They are very kind and giving,, best that your friends don't ruin their reputation with this incredibly RUDE behaviour of theirs. And if your friends are aware that Canadians and Americans are so kind and friendly, then your freinds are USING THEM.. shame!

I am sure YOU were shocked by it also, weren't you. You would not do it in your OWN land,would you?

yeah i am shocked totally shock! will, i know north American people they are not like that but it's bother me is they told me that " this is north America not Asian". actually that happened in Toronto area.

That's why i post this story of mind. coz i know this is only their tactics or fun. and hope they don't use the whole country. lol

yeah we are not doing that in my own land.. and i am a bit conservatives and there are lot of things to learn in this country.

In my situation I'm in an culture shock of everything that i never experience in my entire life but i know i will learn from time to time and adjust of everything.

I am glad that you are so sensible and smart also!! I am sorry your friends joked with you in this way. Canadians are good people and if I were new to their country I would want to show a little more respect. It is actually a melting pot of people from all over the world who tried to start better lives away from war and poverty. They have worked hard to get where they are and many many more immigrants come in all the time making it even harder on the health and welfare system.. and yet the people are, for the most part, very patient still.

I am NOT suggesting that you did anything wrong..nono.. but I AM glad that brought this incident here for discussion. If I was in your country I would be very respectful there also, since I am a guest until I am a citizen. I would have no right to treat anyone the way your friends treated the restaurant staff.
