Did your marriage turn out as expected?

I am glad that you are happy. Before my ex-husband and I got married, he was wonderful to me. After the vows, his true side came out in the open. We had two children together, which I didn't find out until later that he didn't want them. I didn't really care if he didn't remember dates that I thought important. All I wanted from him was to be nice to me, which he couldn't do. I wanted him to be faithful to me, which he couldn't do. He actually changed on our honeymoon from this wonderful person to a monster. But I stayed with him for five years because I couldn't stand the thought of my family saying "I told you so." I acted like everything was fine because I didn't want people's pity. I didn't want them to know that I was in an abusive marriage. I finally got out of it when my oldest daughter became scared of him. I threw his stuff outside and got a restraining order, then we moved half-way across the country. That was nine years ago. I wish that I could have found a relationship like the one that you have. Congratulations. I don't think that all men change, only some of them. But there are always warning signs. I was just blind to them. I think that the key to a happy marriage (one that isn't abusive) is that one must learn to pick one's battles. Don't worry about the small things. They don't really matter in the long run. Just be happy with each other.

Well I am married here for like 6 years and before we got married, he used to pull out my chair every once in a while and then, constantly put his arms around me, give me a sexy tongue kiss and tells me he loves me. Then, I used to constantly love to go over his house (he lived with him mom at the time) and I would sneak over there and spend the night. Then the next thing I knew he proposed to me and then we got married. When we stayed together for a couple of years, we were doing good and sometimes bad. Then he did sometimes remeber my bithday, then he would not hardly say I love you but do some things for me like cook for me on days I work, he would buy me things still and some other good things. But one thing he stopped doing in a while was tellin me I was sexy and other sweet words to me. This is waht I hate. I missed him tellin me i love you. I have discussed with him b4 and he tells me I can't make him do these things when he dont' really mean it. He wants me to be patient for him to do these things.

But sometimes I wonder how long do I have to wait? You know if you married a guy who hasn't learned by his father how to treat a woman real good or your own father not tellin you he loves you, that can make a big difference on your guy. My hubby never hardly had a good relationship with his father and its a long story. I am blessed to have him though and we are still in love with one another. You see, in every relationship there are good times and bad. As long as there are more good times are bad, it is best to stick with one another. It would be silly to wanna get a divorce because of something stupid. Talk it over and avoid arguments. That's all I have to say and hope it helps. Oh and one thing put God in your life by praying for your bf or hubby. Things do get better trust me because prayer does work.

Yes, my husband totally changed after we got married. He begins drinking beer (which he stopped during courtship) again, comes home late, spend every night with his buddies, no more flowers..no more romance. After 8 years, I divorced him. Maybe because I married too fast. I knew him for nly 6 months and decided to get married right away. ( well...young hearts!)

Actually, I never really expected anything from my marriage. I always thought that I would go through it day after day after day. And then when we finally got married and started to go through the whole husband and wife phase, I just started to enjoy the entire situation as it would come to me on a daily basis. I am most happy with my decision to get married and there is nothing in the world that I would not do for my wife. So, not having expected anything from my marriage, I think I got the best of all worlds with it.
