Afterlife theories |
|
There are different afterlife theories.I don't think that all these theories are right. My friend who studies medicine tells me that I won't go anywhere. My body's dead and I'm dead too.My grandmother believed in Heaven and Hell. She was a good Christian lady.My cousin's wife believes in reincarnation and she thinks that her next life will be much better.Who is wrong, who is right?Which afterlife theory you like the most?O perhaps you know more theories?

1. msfrancisco9369 (2136) | 2 months ago | Hi Silvercoin,
Whatever afterlife theories that we have-- i will still believe on life after death. Death is a start of a new life-- an everlasting life. It will only be my physical body that will decay but not my spirit. I know i will experience eternal life with the Almighty!

4. lotterylover (4844) | 2 months ago | So far I don't have evidence that the person's thought go on after dead. My father died a couple of times but he knew nothing about it. A friend of our died 3 times and when I asked her what happened to her when she was dead she said she knew nothing for at least 3 days after they brought her back but left her in a comma. I don't think I would like to see what is going on in the world. What is protrayed on the T.V. is even more than I can stand to watch. I know that if my mother were alive in heaven that she would have helped out in any way she could to help us keep our jobs and maybe even give me a lottery winning number. I know our bodies don't burn as anytime you want to dig someone up at least their bones, teeth and hair are still there. I also know that in order to be a living soul you must have breath and a body. Our breath goes back to God and it knows nothing. Satan wants us to believe in any way he can get us to believe that we will have a second chance. After all that was his first lie to Eve," Thou shalt not surely die."

5. catdla1 (2765) | 2 months ago | I believe in, and have experienced ghosts, so I do not believe that once you are dead you are dead. Medicine knows a lot, but it doesn't know everything...not as long as there are diseases to find cures to.
I've listened to a lot of afterlife theories, and certainly there are many I have not heard. Who knows if they are not all correct? You can got to heaven (or hell), but who is to say that you go directly there? I think life is a process. I did hve one great conversation with a friend who believed in reincarnation, but not in a random way. He believed that how we lead our lives here directly laid the foundation as to where we would end up next. For example, people involved in animal cruelty would come back as a animal to learn what it was like for them. People who lead lives filled with charity and love may come back as teachers and care givers so that they become beacons for the rest of us.
Believing this path it's easy to believe in heaven, because eventually we end up there. It's harder to believe in hell, unless it's in having to repeat the same lesson over and over again. The argument against reincarnation points out that there are more people now than there used to be. But if you think that all living creatures have souls...then it becomes more believable.
Excellent discussion Silver! Where do you think we end up?

6. savypat (7885) | 2 months ago | Well until someone comes back to tell us about it we won't know until we get here. What I do know is that life is energy and energy cannot be destroyed it can only change, from that scientific view I don't really know anymore about death than anyone else. One thing is true none of us escapes it.

7. speakeasy (1438) | 2 months ago | Actually, I believe that they are all correct. Let me explain why I believe this.
There are a lot of different beliefs around the world with a lot of people believing in those beliefs. The power of a person's soul, spirit, belief (what ever you want to call it) can cause some truly amazing things to happen - miracles. These miracles have been documented. There are documented cases of people who died for a short time and were with loved ones who had already passed on. There are documented cases of people who know facts about "prior lives" that they have no access to the information regarding those lives. There are documented "phenomema" about things like ghosts and spirits.
These do not all fit into any one belief system.
So, what I believe is that they are all correct. That what we truly believe will happen to us when we die is what will actually happen. That the power of a person's soul, spirit, belief will create the afterlife we will experience. So, if your medical friend does not believe there is anything "after death", his soul, spirit, belief will simply cease to exist and be extinguished. Your grandmother will end up in "Heaven or Hell" and your cousin will be reincarnated.
The real question is what do you believe will happen to you?

speakeasy (1438) | 2 months ago | It took me many years of soul searching to arrive at my belief in the power of belief.
My early Christian upbringing was fine until I was about 7 or 8 and learned to actually think. There were too many inconsistancies in the Bible and the Christian religion.
Plus, with Judaism, why would anyone believe that an all powerful diety would choose a dirty band of paternalistic warrior/herders and favor them over all of the other people in the world. The world is too big a place and damning everyone else in the world simply because they were not part of this tribe is not the act of a just or loving diety. It makes more sense that if there is a diety or group of dieties, it/they would have guided different people in different ways based on what was best for that group of people.
Then, I discovered science fiction. Some of my readings suggested that the actual God(s) were formed from the beliefs of their followers. No followers and the God "died" or were weakened. Lots of followers equaled a stronger diety.
Then, the paranormal was coming into an era of exploration. Did ghosts, spirits and miracles have any basis in fact? There was evidence to support that in some cases these things could not be disproved. Some were fakes; but, not all.
The summation of all this is what lead me to my belief that what we truly believe will happen after death is what will actually happen. If we truly believe in a religion and it's version of the "afterlife"; that is what we will be faced with after death.

| 8. isis30 (37) | 2 months ago | I believe that the human being is made of 2 components - the physical body and the spiritual soul. When a person dies, the spiritual soul leaves the body and move on to another realm. I'm pretty sure that the spiritual soul is still around us after they pass on, but because they are made of different matter, we cannot see them... I recently lost a loved one and I have faith and great believe that he is still around me - this thought makes me cope better with his passing. I still talk to him everyday as though he is still around. I've heard that some people believe that when a person dies, that's it - that's the end of it. I cannot believe this because that makes it so final, so disheartening... Having said this, it is entirely up to a person and his/ her religious beliefs as to what to believe. With death and coping with death, it is a very personal matter and very difficult to comprehend. It is something that has been in our minds for centuries, yet nobody has the proof or definite answer as to what awaits us once we leave this wonderful earth.

9. bird123 (1208) | 2 months ago | I am sure of one thing. We are spiritual beings in our true natures. This is not a belief. Perhaps your friend in medicine should interview a few people who were pronounced dead but came back. Might just be more evidence out there not being looked at.

10. rameshkumaar57 (1828) | 2 months ago | As a Hindu I believe in Karma, and re incarnation. We always believe what ever we do in this present life is our karma, which will reflect in our re incarnation. As a science student I also found it difficult in believing, heaven, hell or re incarnation. But a few years back, my sister in laws little son started talking about his earlier life, stating that he was murdered in his earlier life by his wife and her lover. They checked this fact, and they found out that a particular man has been murdered and his wife was living with the man who this kid claimed has killed him in his earlier life. They completly hushed up this thing, and took this boy to a Phsychatrist and made him forget about this. This boy is a teen ager now, and of course he does not remember anything. After this incident, I have started to believe in all things.
