How to quit? | | I have been smoking for about 20 years and I really want to quit. I have tried cold turkey, gum, pills, and Chantix. Do any of you have a way that you quit that REALLY worked??????

My father, who recently died of lung cancer from smoking so much, succeeded in quitting recently before his death. He had his family, us, help him by taking away his money to buy cigarettes for a while, and then occupied his time with all sorts of random trips like taking walks to get the exercise he needs. If you need to quit, think of it this way: You need to quit because the people around you will have a possibility of dying from secondhand smoke. Think before your actions.
I hope this helps, and good luck.=)

MoonGypsy (174) | 2 weeks ago | i am on the patch. it's been about 3 days now. i don't know. the success rate of those things are low. this is why a booklet comes with them, that give you "tips" on how to stop smoking. it give you a support hotline number. lol. isn't that funny. i thought i spend $35 because i already had my support. anyway, the cravings are not as bad. but for the first 24-72 hours, cravings come (for me) every hour on the hour. they last more than 15 minutes. on the other hand, the cravings may be decreasing some. they may be shorting in time and duration. i just can't wait not to care anymore. i want to happy about not smoking.
unfortunately that is all i have, as far as advice. i am on myspace and i do a blog called, "smoking diaries". if you want my mypsace, its "mortica_adaams".
