Health Care bill email this discussion to a friend?

The new health care bill will be the end of the US medical profession. In allowing the US to take control of health care, it will only shorten the life span of many Americans. Why would the government pay for someone in there 60 to receive chemo therapy.

That's not really right. Healthcare is already pretty much run by Medicare. If you don't follow Medicare rules, then you risk losing all Medicare payment, which pretty much puts you out of business. Eventually, all other payers adopt Medicare rules as well. Yet, since the medical profession continues, and the life span increases.

So, I disagree.

I'm a bit confused about your discussion. You mention that by the government taking control of health care the life span of Americans will shorten and the next thing you say is why would the government pay for someone in their 60s to receive chemo.

Surely by not giving someone chemo will shorten their life span - they will die from cancer. Being 60 doesn't make you old and not worthy of health care. You could live well into your 80s. That's 20 years of life given to a person.

Maybe I have misunderstood your discussion. Maybe your question should have been "Why would the government NOT pay for someone in their 60s to receive chemo therapy?"

older individuals would be refused health care since, since it would not be cost effective
