Do you reference things you see on TV online?

I was just watching a show on TV and they referenced a movie they were watching and since I did not recognize it, had the computer on I decided to check out the movie and see if there was a trailer or reference to it only to find out it was fake (probably to save on royalties). Now in pre computer era I would either have to go to a video store, library or some other source to find out. Computers make research easier and faster. This is not the first time I am watching something and feel intrigued by some fact or reference and look it up, sometimes joining a live chat etc, so I was wondering if it is just me or have other people done this?
