A little rant, a bit of a cry and a whimper

I hadn't intended a post on this yet, but, as usually happens (for me anyway) the idealisms get a beating from adverse reality.. Monday, a week back, our roommate Mark died. He was tired..He'd lived with AIDS for over 15 years, had been thru tongue cancer and won, had been thru dialysis and won but because of stress and probably the AIDS and for whatever reason caught the flu..and because of his AIDS went to the hospital and while there got a staph related pneumonia..and since we're long past bedside manner from medical folks, got shoddy treatment and attitude from these people whose environment had sickened him more. They were careless with the tubes they used to drain his lungs causing him a lot of pain and not getting pain relievers to him for it. He finally got out and was put on a new regiment of dialysis 3 times a week. Very shortly after he got sick again and when he went for a dialysis treatment they kept him. He had pneumonia..and, as I said, he was tired so, we later found out, he refused treatment, not wanting to deal with all that pain again and put a no resusitation order on it and died. Liz and I understand..Nonetheless, our friend is gone. We miss him like something awful and this will have to wait to be continued. The cry of it is here. Been too busy to cry and need to stop for now..Thanx for putting up with it..

Hi greenfeathers, Really sorry to hear about your friend what a brave courageous person. This kind of treatment I have seen with my own eyes in a certain Hospital and over here too and Spain is supposed to be a medical paradise which it is not there are as many good Doctors as bad anywhere in the World that goes for Nurses too. All I mean to say here is that there is good mixture anywhere and they outweigh the negative ones thank goodness. But your friend has been so brave and now he needs to rest and he will always live on in your hearts. What a good friend you are to have been with him through thick and thin. Take care now. Sue.xxx
