My answer would be when the child is too big to sleep in a crib. Thats usually when mine is already about one year old. We also need to take the risk of them rolling off the bed in their sleep. And we have encountered it in our second child one time.
When does a kid usually move from sleeping in a crib to sleeping in a bed?

The best time to move your kid from the crib is when the baby does not wanted to sleep there. There are many kinds of cribs wooden, steel and soft for the baby with foam. Most of the cribs that are good to use when the baby are below 1-year-old is soft and when hey are grown-up is wooden crib. Which most of the big babies uses especially when they were sleeping and their nannies of mother are working and doing house hold chores. The baby mostly wanted to sleep with their mother so they go to their mothers side. But they are good to maintain in their crib when we cannot attend them in a short while and if we are busy.

In my home country a cot is large and can take a child up to 2 years old. Then the child can go into a toddler's bed. This is a bed around 140 to 160cm long with sides to it so the child can't fall out of it. My daughter is now 2 years old and she has a toddler's bed. I hope that he will at age 4 move into a low to the ground single bed 200cm long.

Your child is too big for a crib at only one? Wow I would think to keep them in there a bit loner until at least 2 or 3 so you know they aren't running around at night while you are asleep, which my brother did for a long time, also I think my mom waited until he figured out how to climb out of his crib by himself tht is a good rule of thumb I guess.
