How do you feel about all the actors getting dropped except Jeff Goldblum?  |

|  I think Vincent D'Onofrio made this show. Dropping him after all these years doesn't seem right, unless he was ready to leave the show anyway. He's a gifted actor who has done many quirky roles. I still remeber him as "Gomer Pyle" in full metal jacket. The men's room scene was scary. Somehow dropping everybody to make the show more centered on Goldblum doesn't make sense without some sort of transition period. How do yo explain a change of partners AND a change of Captain at the same time?

| |  I think it´s alright. They have to change the characters because they begin to repeat themselves and it predictable. DÖnofrio was always playing the psychologist role. Very suave, yet he knew what the "bad guys" were thinking. That´s interesting until you discover that all stories are the same. It´s not the problem of the actor but of the character he was playing.

| | I agree D'Onofrio made the show. I didn't know they were dropping every body. I have to say when I saw the show for the first time at first I didn't like him because he actually seemed a little scary/psycho. Then I realized what he was doing. He was just playing with people and getting inside their head. I think one of the best scenes where he did this was when he was investigating a doctor who was "playing god" with his older patients and they went to interrogate him at a dinner. The Doctor was standing giving a toast and Goren/D'Onofrio came in sat down in the Doctor's chair and started eating the Doctor's steak. It was priceless. | | | | | | |

| |  i agree with you. i really enjoyed Vincent D'onofrio and kathryn in law and order criminal intent. it was so sudden. i hope i see both of them in something else really soon. they are both talented actor and actress. it appears they do what they what inspite of us fans out here.

| |  I had no idea this had happened to the show. Guess I could google it. The last show I saw was the one where Goran found a picture at what? His mom's grave? I don't remember.
I do know I wondered at Vincent D'Onofrio's appearance. I didn't know if the weight-gain had been written in along with the graying and scruffiness or if there was something going on in his personal life. I remember they said he was only doing every other show because of exhaustion.
I never saw another show after the one about the picture at the grave. I couldn't find the show. I set my DVR for new episodes and nothing ever showed up.
You know how they do, start advertising all new shows....that consist of four or five new ones then they go on hiatuse again and sometimes they even jump to another network.
So tell me, what happened to the cast and did a regular cast member die?

| | Not sure if I have things totally right, but they brought in Jeff Goldblum (Zach Nichols) to replace Chris Noth. Goldblum played a character who had on been Capt. Ross' (Eric Bogosian) partner but who had left the force. Nichols was considered to be a bit of a wack job because his father was a psychiatrist and this seemed to affect his thinking. When the last season started, there was an episode suggesting that Capt. Ross as dirty. It turned out, he was acting under cover but he ends up getting killed. They bring in a temporary unit boss while Eames, Goren, and Nichols try to solve Ross's murder. Nichols kind of horns into the case because he WAS Ross's partner, but Goren takes the case more personally. As such his behavior and methods get a bit more erratic. The brass comes along and offers Eames a chance to be promoted to Captain in another department, but she needs to turn evidence against Goren, who by now the brass want to be rid of, to get the job. She refuses but they end up dumping Goren anyway after the case is solved. Eames gets transferred and Nichols is the last one standing. At that point, I stopped watching. | | | |

I found the show by accident one night some years ago, and Goren is what caught my attention. He was younger and thinner and I was completely fascinated with his body gestures when he was onto something or interrogating someone. He created a very unique character.

| | Donofrio has tended to play a wide range of characters. I first noticed him playing a retarded guy on the Equalizer. Later I was surprised to find out that he played "Gomer Pyke" in Full Metal Jacket. (He gained at least 40 pounds for the role.) He's also played a pschycopath in the cell and has also palyed Abbie Hoffman and Orson Welles. | | | |
