I am very keen on traveling to different countries. I think travel insurance is essential to have just in case something bad happens. I traveled to Canada for three weeks and had to pay quite expensive insurance. North America is a place where medical costs are incredibly high. Something as simple as a broken leg there could cost twenty five thousand dollars. Backpacker insurance can be cheap but offer cover just in case. Baggage cover can also be worth having. In Malaysia I fell down a drain and badly injured my leg. These days I get travel insurance that included an airline failure which is something becoming more common.

hey, depending on where your going, eg a trip to the neighbouring state or crossing the globe, i would definitely say yes. Being injured oversas can be VERY costly and for the price of travel insurance its not really worth not having it. theres and old saying "If you cant afford travel insurance, you cant afford to travel". I had a friend whose appendix burst in canada and he had to have emergency surgery. The cost at the end of this ordeal was 16 grand (canadian)and as soon as he woke up he made a single call to the insurance company and they sorted it out for him, he simply handed the phone over to the hospital admin staff and he was done.
