How was your Friday the Thirteenth yesterday?

My started out strange and ended horribly. At 9:30 in the morning my telephone rang three times, but when I picked it up and listened, no one was there. I checked the caller ID and my friend, Pam, who lives in Florida but is now visiting her children in Seattle, had called from her home not theirs.
I immediately called back, but there was no answer. I began to panic, for you see, the day after Pam arrived in Seattle, she had a major heart attack and ended up getting a pace maker put in. The first one didn't work well, so the doctors had to put in another.
When I got no answer to my return call, I imagined her laying on the floor unable to get the telephone. I am now in Pennsylvania, so I called our other friend, Mandy and asked her to check on Pam.
PAM WAS NOT AT HOME - SHE WAS STILL IN OREGON. So, why did her number appear on my telephone. I went back to my caller ID and her number did not appear in all of the calls listed! Mandy and I kept calling Pam in Oregon all day to find out if she was okay and we finally reached her in the early evening. At the time her number appeared on my telephone, her Chihuahua, which is a character in a book I'm writing and the boy friend of Mandy's cute poodle, was throwing up blood. She was rushing him to the emergency vet. Turned out she had to have him put down. He was eaten up with cancer and it had not been detected by the vets earlier.
The telephone call that came in but was never made was only the beginning. Next I needed to get groceries so I checked my online bank account. Imagine my surprise when a notification from FDIC came up instead of my bank announcing my bank had been closed that day!!! The FDIC took it over and assigned its accounts to Iberia Bank in Louisiana.
That was the last straw. I climbed into bed and waited out the rest of Friday, the Thirteenth. Sometimes, you just have to keep from asking "What else can happen?" The answers are not always nice.
How was your Friday the Thirteenth? Did anything weird happen?

Gosh - sounds like you had a stinker.
Sorry to hear about it...
I had a super Friday the Thirteenth, which may or may not make you feel any better! I found out that I'd passed my latest exam; I got a raise and a £1,500 bonus; I had a lovely dinner and curled up to read a few books before bed, with my cats!
But then, Friday the Thirteenth (in February) was also my birthday, so I have some history... Hope today and tomorrow are better for you.

Last Friday the 13th was actually my 29th birthday. I had a great day spending the day with my family. My husband and parents-in-law prepared a dinner treat for me.

I had a great Friday the 13th. :D I went on a job interview, which went well, then got back home and continued to chill out on the computer. There was nothing weird or strange about it; I think that it's all superstition.

Hello, good topic. I spent yesterday driving through 250 miles of the worst weather I've ever experienced. The first 150 miles was torrential rain, punctuated by thick fog, and for the last 100 miles I had the added bonus of 75 mph winds. I drive a camper van, and I had to wrestle with the steering wheel to keep us on the road.
I knew the weather was going to be bad, but nobody - even the forecasters - realised just how bad it would be. My husband doesn't drive, so it was all down to me. We got to our destination unscathed, without even a close call, so as far as I'm concerned, Friday 13th was my lucky day!

I would say you had a fabulous Friday 13th! Thank goodness you got where you were going safely. I drive because I have to, but given a choice, I would happily be chauffeured everywhere!

Thankfully, nothing bad happened to me on this particularly cursed day, and I was lucky enough to end it unscathed and unharmed (something I have succeeded in for many years). Although I believe it's only a matter of time before my Friday the Thirteenth luck runs short and I fall foul to this dreaded day.
In fact, I could comment that I had a fairly pleasant Friday the Thirteenth this year. Me and a couple of my friends went to a local gig, met several old faces that I had thought were gone forever, and even managed to claim myself £40 on a fortunate scratch card. It appears that 13 isn't unlucky for all, as my case proves.
Sorry to hear you had such an unpleasant experience, Maggie. If I were in your situation, I would have probably went into a complete nervous break-down.

Check out my answer further up. You'll see my Friday 13th could have been much worse, because the last several years have been.
Hugs,
Maggie

This Friday thirteenth was somewhat both good and bad for me. i had decided to buy a new mobile phone on that day. i was also going to give my birthday treat to my girlfriend. strangely, i lost my mobile phone in the bus.i guess it was stolen. but strangely, while i was dining with my lady love, she took out a new mobile phone and presented it to me as my new birthday gift. one lost got a new one. GREAT...

Kismet! That's what it was. You were not supposed to have that other telephone. You DID cancel it so you won't be billed if someone DID steal it, didn't you? Hope so. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
