Borderlands or Fallout 3?

I don't know which one to get, I've looked at every single review and they all pretty much say the same thing, that fallout 3 has more to do but Borderlands is more fun. I'm leaning towards Fallout 3, but my friend told me that the quests in Fallout 3 are tedious and confusing. Can someone please help me figure out which one I should get.

Borderlands is more of an action-shooter. Fallout 3 is more of an RPG with guns. Personally, I would choose Fallout 3. It's a great game with a deep story and lots of ways to play. (Good v Evil, Heavy weapons v small guns v melee, etc.)
