I wonder how much they pay the three ladies who sang Our National Anthem for Manny Pacquiao, I kind of hate those people who says we should sing the Philippine Anthem the way it used to be, What ever happens to freedom of expression, i would prefer hearing our National Anthem sung with artistry and expressive emotions, I think we should not limit ourselves in just one harmony for our National Anthem. For me, Nobody owns OUr National Anthem except the Filipinos and we should sing it to our own Melody as it pleases us.

We can leave the "creativity" for other songs. This is the National Anthem we are talking about. When we have something that represents the country as a whole, we do not want anyone mocking it or abusing it or using it as a decremental to us as a country. I think it is necessary to regulate it as it is a symbol to us Filipinos (much like how they regulate things which involve other national symbols such as the Philippine Flag etc.) I believe that singing the National Anthem with PRIDE is a lot more important than singing it with artistry or expressive emotions.

I dsidnot mean abusing it, just a little touch of sensitivity, like Martin's Version during pacquiao haton fight

Yeah, I get your point. The problem is, if they let him make his little tweaks to the tune, then it gives anyone the right to do so. And if anyone can make his/her own version, the larger the possibility for abuse. You would want anyone singing the Philippine National Anthem to the tune of novelty songs or nursery rhymes would you? If the authorities allow those kinds of actions, it becomes more likely to be abused. As much as we all want to improve on everything, there are always things better left untouched. For the respect on the original composer and to avoid abuse.
BTW, Martin's version was nice.

Hi Mrfdg,
well inasmuch as we want to be more creative and expressive in singing the national anthem there is a standard that we Filipinos need to follow to give pride and respect to our national anthem and the genuine beat is MARCH BEAT.

well of course, there will always be the genuine version, the marching version, But i love Martin's Version. I hope the National Arts Organization would change their mind and allow Artist to perform their own Inspiring and Expressive version of our Anthem.

What i want is have notice that these purist does not do anything at all but criticized artists who sing the song in different ways, I think they FAILED to promote the real meaning of our Anthem, that's why people dont sing the song anymore
