College fee will be incrasing significantly in Georgia starting next year 2010. It will be a incrasing burden for both parents and the students themselves. The fee expected to be double or little more than you expected, depends on what school you register on. I had two cousins are going to colleges in Georgia here, and they facing the same dilemma. Should they take part - time course, or they should wait for another year? Because they have to find a job to come up some money for college anyway. It is truly a big obstacle for students and families right now.

Well that will explain what I had heard then. They said that the financial aid was going up in January. So now I see why. The aid goes up so the school fees have to go up too. I think for a student that lives at home that they need to over look the parents income to a certain point so that everyone has a fair chance to go.
But we don't have any say so in the matter. I guess the working class people don't know what they can afford or not..That is the way they come across to us anyways.
Great discussion and have a good nite.
Keep Smiling.

Well, it just that so many students are in a difficulty time to afford to go to college. With such burden, and such difficulty for them and their families. I guess the government should come up some plan to help relieve those people's burden a little. We all want our future generation to have a nice education don't we?

Yes that is what they are hollowing now about our younger generation. I don't see them helping them to get that education to make a better future for them. I wish that things will work out for them.

There is a big college tuition increase for universities in California too. I'm in my first year of college and it does worry me since I have no money and don't want my mother to take on the burden of huge loans. I think your cousins should still go to school full time though. If they have to, they should take out loans and/or find a part-time job on campus.
Ah, fee increases....

It is very hard trying to afford college without raising costs! My school also raised tutition for next year but not as much as some other colleges/univerisities. I filed for the main financial aid, FASA and checked with my state to what other grants, scholarships were available. I am so close to gaining my Associates in Medical Assisting I don't want to have to quit again, so I am looking everywhere for financial assistance. I live on my own with my son so I have no help from family. I have also been looking for part time work to no avail. Some financial assistance will only pay for full time schedule so I would watch what they will pay for and how many credits. If they feel they could get assistance and hold part time job then part time will be fine to start with and then they will know if they are able to handle both job and classes. search online for scholarships, grants at http://www.fastwebs.com, http://scholarships.com and various other sites of such. The school they are wanting to go to may have hardship scholarships so I would also talk to the financial aid office and see if they could qualify for other grants, scholarships through the school. I know it is very hard, but don't give up education is important for any type of career anymore. I wish you and your family good luck.
