A few years ago some friends and I were discussing ways to decorate for the holiday season. I thought I would share my idea.
Live Plants
Juniper
Foam Wreath
Inserts:
Artificial or fresh: Mistletoe, Ivy, and Holly
Pine Cones
Acorns
Apples
Oranges
Extra picks
Colored foil
Ribbon; red, gold, silver
For this Yule centerpiece, you will need one live potted Juniper, a Styrofoam wreath (large enough to fit around the base of the potted Juniper), decorative floral and fruit picks (pine cones, acorns, berried, apples, oranges), undecorated floral picks, Ivy, Mistletoe, and Holly sprigs, colored foil, and ribbon (red, gold, and silver).
Wrap the pot with colored foil. Place the potted Juniper inside of the foam wreath. Insert the mistletoe, ivy, and holly sprigs into the wreath. Try to completely hide the wreath form. When you get the greenery placed you can then insert the floral picks and fruit picks. Cut the ribbon into 3inch segments, about 10 of each color, more for larger wreaths. With a ribbon segment, make a loop. Attach the ribbon loop to a floral pick with wire. Insert the ribbon loops amongst the foliage.
If you like, you can decorate the juniper with colored beads, trinkets, and garlands. You can also insert tapered candles into the wreath, but use drip-less candles so as not to make a mess on the arrangement.
You could also use the battery operated candles.
