The optimal for me is certainly both, but if i have to choose i would in the long run go for the powerful. Im currently very pleased with my Toshiba laptop :D

I prefer to have power and stylist laptop too. Atleast AMD X3 2.2 GHz Processor, 4GB DDR3 Memory will be fine for me. Dedicated VGA not shared memory with base RAM and 500GB SATA2 Drive, Crystal Brite XWGA LCD not TFT, Atheros WLAN chipset for other purposes. External USB Dual Layer Multi Writer DVD/CD and eight(8) Cell Battery pack that will last minimum of eight hours battery life while on the go.

That certainly doesnt sound to shabby at all either. My Boyfriend just bought a new laptop for his one person company, im totally jealous, but he doesnt care about the style, but more about the Powerfulness, which is fair enough considering the fact he is a software programmer.
I think for my next laptop i would want one of those very small notebooks, because im very often travelling, so the smaller the better and ligther load to carry with me. And i do use my laptop a lot for writing and surfing on the net.

I would choose the powerful one.while I would like to have a MacBook Air,I am currently happy with my ASUS.I wouldn't trade it for anything else.though my drive is starting to get full,I will not trade it with anything else.I will just upgrade the memory,HD,and processor.

I would say both, but the most important one is power. I just bought a dell last week, and it has more power than any other laptop I have had. It is also stylish, and over all a very nice laptop. I have had compaq and gateway before this one, but this one by far is the best one I have had. The pages load up very fast, and thatis a goo thing, as the others I have had, just didn't load as fast as they should have. I was hesitant to buy a dell, since I don't know all that much about them. My daughter has has a dell, compawq, gateway, and hp. She likes the hp a lot, and I thought about buying one too, but the one I wanted, Walmart was out of, so I opted for this one, and I am gald that I did. Take care, and happy mylotting.
